Editorial Policy
Purpose
Skunkworks Academy publishes practical technology guidance that helps readers plan, implement, secure and evaluate learning or technology capability. Editorial pages must provide substantive value beyond navigation, copied documentation, vendor summaries or catalogue descriptions.
Originality
Articles must be written or materially developed by the Academy’s authors and reviewers. External documentation may be referenced, but copied, lightly rewritten or automatically expanded material is not acceptable as the primary value of a page. Templates may standardise structure, but each article must contain topic-specific reasoning, decisions, examples and implementation guidance.
Expertise and accountability
Technical articles identify an author and, where appropriate, a reviewer. Author profiles describe relevant experience and review scope. Articles include a publication or review date so readers can evaluate currency.
Sources and claims
Vendor requirements, standards, legal obligations, statistics and other externally verifiable claims should be linked or cited to appropriate primary or authoritative sources. Author recommendations and operational judgement are distinguished from sourced facts. We avoid unsupported superlatives, misleading guarantees and claims of affiliation that cannot be substantiated.
Security content
Cybersecurity material is framed for defensive, authorised and educational use. Operational instructions must emphasise owned systems, authorised laboratories, permission, isolation, remediation and responsible disclosure. Pages whose primary purpose would enable unauthorised access are not eligible for advertising and may be excluded entirely.
Artificial intelligence
AI may assist with research organisation, editing, formatting or quality checks. A named human author or reviewer remains accountable for accuracy, originality, context and publication. AI output is not published as unreviewed filler and is not used to manufacture large numbers of near-duplicate pages.
Commercial independence
Training, partner, affiliate and advertising relationships are disclosed where relevant. They do not override technical accuracy or determine recommendations. Sponsored or affiliate material must be clearly labelled. Advertising is visually separated from navigation, calls to action and interactive controls.
Corrections
Material errors are corrected promptly. Significant changes may be noted in the article. Readers may report concerns to editorial@skunkworks.africa with the page URL, disputed text and supporting evidence.
Review cycle
Content is reviewed according to subject volatility. Fast-changing cloud, security, certification and vendor-platform pages require more frequent review than stable conceptual material. Pages that cannot be maintained may be updated, consolidated, redirected or removed.
